The final rounds of the winners group of the CTC Senior Competitions 2011 was held at TC Parioli in Italy from September 9 – 11. The host club and defending champions were joined by the other group winners from the previous year – TC Kungliga (Sweden), TC Geneva (Switzerland) and LTC Fitzwilliam (Ireland).
The semi final matches saw LTC Fitzwilliam beat TC Kungliga 9-0 and the host club survived a tougher match with TC Geneve, 6-3.
The defending champions were in much more dominant form on the final day however, conceding just one set in nine matches as they secured the title for a second consecutive year. The full team, under the careful guidance of captain Edoardo Mazza, consisted of Paolo Agnesi, Ugo Biagianti, Federico Castelnuovo, Daniela Cigna, Sergio De Bac, Marco Mencaglia, Elisabetta Morici, Fabrizio Pennacchioli, Massimo Ribechi and three champions of the tennis world that have contributed greatly to the history of the Club; Stefano Pescosolido, Francesca Romano and Sandrine Testud.
The social programme included a gala dinner, which was held on the Saturday evening and was attended by the President of CONI, Gianni Petrucci, the Vice President of CIO, Mario Pescante, the President of the Italian Tennis Federation Angelo Binaghi and the Italian tennis legend Nicola Pietrangeli. They were joined by the Board of Directors of the Club, as well as many past presidents.
