I CLKT Prague celebrates its 130th anniversary

On July 23, the I CLTK Prague, the first club where tennis was played in Prague, celebrated the 130 anniversary.

Even though the racket and ball games were already present in Prague in the 17th century and it is known that it was played in the Great Hall of the Prague Castle, the passion of the Germans for the new sport made the courts flourish in the garden of private homes. The first Club to be founded was in 1983 the I CLTK on the island of Stavenice. Some friendly matches took place besides a festive evening with the attendance among others from the President of Tennis Europe and President of Czech Tennis Assosiation Ivo Kaderka, the former two times champion of Roland Garros and Wimbledon Champion John Kodes, this year Wimbledon Champion Marketa Vondrousova and the President of the Centenary Tennis Clubs Association, Mr. Jordi Cambra.

Mr. Petr Simunek President of the club received an engraved plaque to remember the anniversary from the President of the Centenary Tennis Clubs Association, Mr. Jordi Cambra
