2009 CTC JUNIOR COMPETITION (U17)- FITZWILLIAM LTC, DUBLIN, SEPTEMBER 25-26, 2009

Four teams took part : Villa Primrose, Bordeaux who will host next years competition, Kungliga LTK, Stockholm who hosted last year and 1st Cesky , Prague who hosted in 2007.

A very high standard of play was on view for the weekend with Ireland’s top u-17’s representing Fitzwilliam and several highly ranked Juniors visiting for the event including Petra Rohanova of the Czech republic who currently enjoys a European Junior ranking of Number 1 under 14. 
Fitzwilliam defeated  Villa Primrose 5 matches to 1 in the opening semi final. 
1st Cesky and Kungliga were level at 3 matches each after their semifinal. Competition rules usually separate the teams by margin of sets and then margin of games but for the first time in the competition to date both of these were also equal. As a result a champions tie break in mixed doubles was played to determine the outcome and Cesky emerged as 10-7 winners. 
On Saturday , Kungliga beat Villa Primrose in the 3rd place play off and Fitzwilliam beat Cesky 4 matches to 2 in the Final.

The Fitzwilliam team of Amy Bowtell , HannahMay Morrissey, Susan McRann , John Morrissey , Sam Barry and Ciaran Fitzgerald represented the Club with distinction both on court and when acting as hosts off the court.

The tournament provided an opportunity to see some very talented players perform at a young age. Two of the players that played in the Carrickmines Cup in 2007 are now ranked in the top three U/14s in Europe
