The CTC Winners’ Group convened in the Czech Republic during the weekend of September 7 – 9, where the tournament was organised by I.CLTK Prague. The tournament brought together the various group winners from last year’s CTC Senior competitions: the hosts, Kungl. Lawn Tennis Clubben (SWE), Malahide Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club (IRL) and Haagsche Lawn Tennis Club Leimonias (NED).

Many good matches were played in a friendly spirit, and the four captains Mrs. Anna Nordlander, Mr. Murrough O’Brien, Mr. Antti Tallgren, Mr. Frantisek Stejskal Jr., expressed their gratitude to the organisers and to Mr. Petr Simunek, a member of the I. CLTK board and CTC vice-president.

Saturday saw two decisive semi-finals played, as I.CLTK beat Malahide (9/0), and KLTK overcame Leimonias (7/2). Following the matches, the participants enjoyed a boat trip and dinner at the club restaurant as part of the social programme. On the Sunday, the participants had the chance to meet with Mrs. Helena Sukova, the former Czech world #3, who was inducted into the International Hall of Fame of ITF this year!

Mrs. Sukova no doubt inspired her local team, who edged to victory in a close final match, beating KLTK from Stockholm 5/4, while HLTC Leimonias claimed third place with a win over Malahide.
