The Carrickmines team has claimed victory at the IX CTC U 14 RCTB 1899 Cup. After nine years of participation in this clay competition the Irish players have become accustomed to the bounce of the ball on the clay surface, winning a close final over the British team from Cumberland in a 10-6 championship tie break.
Under the direction of Marc Visiedo and with Manel Perez as referee the event showcased the values the Association fosters with its mission. The host club raised two teams to complete the draw of six alongside the Cumberland team from London, the RC Polo and the Irish team from Carrickmines. The draw included a second chance for the losers of the first day to join the semifinals again on the Saturday, combining a format of round robin and knock out draw.
A really high standard of play, commitment and camaraderie was on display during the whole weekend. The players and coaches all expressed their gratitude towards the host club and their hopes to compete again in the next edition.
