The Centenary Tennis Clubs Association held its 16th Annual General Meeting in Lausanne on Thursday 22nd November.
The meeting was highlighted by the induction of three new member clubs, each from a different continent – Santa Fe Lawn Tennis Club (ARG), Delhi Gymkhama Club (IND) and Tennis Club de Lyon (FRA) – bringing the total number of member clubs around the world to 62.
The assembly heard details of how 2013 is expected to be a further year of growth for the organisation, whose activities have expended from Europe to include Africa and the USA in recent years, and will see first-ever events in India (February 2013) and Japan (November 2013) during the coming season.
The now-traditional European competitions will once again take place during the summer, with clubs including Kungl LTK (SWE), Le Tir (FRA) and Leimoinias (NED) amongst those to have already offered to host events. Junior competitions will return to Carrickmines (IRL), Prague (CZE) and Barcelona (ESP), with repeats of the successful junior exchanges that took place in 2012 also expected to take place. Meanwhile, the third edition of the Great Britain and Ireland friendly day will see the event held in Ireland for the first time, with Carrickmines due to host.
Proposals for further cooperation with Tennis Europe were also explored, with further details to be confirmed.
The meeting was held at the Hotel d’Angleterre due to flooding at the organisation’s home, the Olympic museum, and was attended by guest of honour Christian Schmitz, representative of the CTC’s main sponsor EFG Private Banking.
