Cumberland LTC triumphs in the CTC Senior Competition +35/+45 of TC Lyon

The French club is celebrating its 160th anniversary

The Tennis Club de Lyon, France, was proud to hold a CTC senior +35/+45 team competition event on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th of September 2024.

We were pleased to welcome Real Club de Polo of Barcelona, Spain, and Cumberland LTC London, United Kingdom.

We started our event with welcome cocktails and lunch on Friday, and ended with the celebration of the 160 years of Tennis Club de Lyon on Saturday night with our “street food style” club evening, which included live music and a DJ, as well as food stands from some of Lyon’s best restaurants.

The three teams played each other in a round robin format over two days, in mostly sunny but windy conditions on our clay courts.

Real Club de Polo of Barcelona defeated Cumberland LTC 5/4 on Friday.

On Saturday morning Tennis Club de Lyon pulled out a win against Real Club de Polo of Barcelona by 6:3, but lost against Cumberland LTC 3/6 in the afternoon after having match points in one of the +35 men’s singles matches and in the +45 men’s doubles match.

As each Club had won a team meeting we had to count points and Cumberland LTC London came out as the proud winner. Congratulations again!

We were delighted to see some great tennis this weekend, with some very close matches and hard-fought wins. The atmosphere was incredible, and the players not only showed brilliant footwork on the court, but also on the dance floor at Saturday night’s party.

We would like to give a big thank you to all the participating tennis clubs for making this such a joyful event!
