Winchester Racquets & Fitness won the CTC UK Irish Friendly Competition 2025

On Saturday 20th September, The Edgbaston Priory Lawn Tennis Club were delighted to host the Annual UK Irish Friendly competition of the Centenary Tennis Club as part of their 150th Anniversary celebrations.

It was a pleasure to welcome teams from Carrickmines Croquet & Lawn Tennis Club, East Glos Club & Winchester Racquets & Fitness.

The players arrived late afternoon and were welcomed by some light refreshments. The rain didn’t stop the teams having a tour of the facilities and grounds and we were able to use the Indoor Tennis Centre to start the matches early afternoon. The matches were competitive but played in a superb spirit with enthusiastic support from the balcony. The matches closely contested with all clubs finishing within 2 wins of each other, with the overall winners Winchester being announced at the start of dinner.

Club Chair, Sarah Ann Moore, opened the evening, welcoming all clubs to Edgbaston Priory and
recognising the amazing legacy of the clubs within the room. The hospitality team at the club served up a delicious three course meal and the players were treated to a brief history of the club by long standing member, Andrew Smith.

It was a wonderful afternoon of friendly yet competitive tennis. Edgbaston Priory Lawn Tennis Club are already looking forward to next year!
