Annual General Meeting in Lausanne

The Centenary Tennis Clubs Association held its 20th Annual General Meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland on Saturday November 19th, 2016.

Representatives from 11 different member clubs attended the meeting, which was chaired by the organisation’s President, Juan Maria Tintore.

The assembly approved the admittance of five new member clubs from Austria, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland to the Association. The inclusion of the new members – WAC Wiener Athletic Sportsklub (AUT), St. Georges Hill Lawn Tennis Club (GBR), Beckenham Lawn Tennis Club (GBR), Donnybrook Lawn Tennis Club (IRL) and Sutton Lawn Tennis Club (IRL), brings the total number of member clubs to 72 in 26 different countries across six continents.

The Assembly heard details of how the growing organisation’s activities progressed in 2016, when the CTC organized tournaments in more territories than ever before. Specific updates were given about the third CTC Competition in South America, which was held at the Tenis Club Argentino in Buenos Aires, and the 2nd CTC Asia Tournament, which took place recently at the Yokohama Tennis Community in Japan with the participation of two clubs from Europe, Royal Leopold (BEL) and LTTC Rot Weiss Berlin (GER).

Affiliated to Tennis Europe and a recognized organization of the International Tennis Federation, the Centenary Tennis Clubs Association was founded in June 1996 by eight European clubs with the aim of promoting the traditions of the sport of tennis. All of the member clubs can claim more than 100 years of history and a significant tennis tradition.
