Competitions Committee Meeting in Barcelona

The Competitions Committee met at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 on April 18th to organise another busy summer of CTC activities. Present were Petr Simunek, President of Competitions Committee, (ICLTK Prague), Declan Heavey (Fitzwilliam), Lars Myhrmann (Kungl LTK), Juan Mª Tintoré, CTC President and Berta Tintoré, CTC Secretary.

The proposals received by the Clubs for 2011 were evaluated and the groups arranged for the 2011 competitions. In Europe, following tradition, the defending champions will meet at TC Parioli in Rome. The club also hosted the event last year and requested to organize the competition once again. They will be joined by Kungl LTK of Stockholm, Fitwilliam of Ireland and TC Geneve of Switzerland. British teams will meet at Roehampton, where they will also compete against a combined Irish team.

Other organisers this year will be the Cumberland Club in London and RC Polo in Barcelona. An additional organiser will be requested by the Committee to accommodate all of the clubs that have shown interest in participating in the 2011 competition.

More clubs have also signed up for the junior events this year. The Under 12 Carrickmines Cup will be held in Ireland, with an increased number of participants. The Under 14 ICLTK Prague Cup has also received increased entries, and a new sub-group will be organized at the CT La Salut during the month of August. The Under 17 Fitzwilliam Cup will be held at the Fitzwilliam Club in Ireland.

Teams from Britain and Ireland will meet in Roehampton, London, for a day of friendly matches planned for 3rd September.

During 2011, the CTC extends its activities to two new areas. West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills (USA) will hold a doubles competition for CTC members, as will Club Wanderers in South Africa.

To enhance the development of the Association in other areas, the Committee suggests organizing clubs to invite other clubs in their area. Such developments will be supported by the Association, who will send trophies to hosting clubs, and will also be supported by the sponsor of the Association, EFG International.
