The Centenary Tennis Clubs Association (CTC) Committee of Management met yesterday at the Real Club de Tennis Barcelona-1899, coinciding with the first day at the ATP Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, 68th Trofeo Conde de Godó.
The meeting was led by CTC President, Jordi Cambra, who due to the current health restrictions set out his vision for the organisation’s future in a virtual meeting. Mr. Cambra was joined by the following representatives: Mr. Lars Myhrman, Kung LTK, Mr. Eric Rogers, TC Genève, Mr. Donald Macleod, The Cumberland, Dr. Guido Schulz, LTTC Rot Weiss Berlin, Mr. Philipe Neve, Royal Leopold Club,Mr. Petr Simunek, ICLTK Prague, Mr. Pedro Navedo, RST La Magdalena, Mr. Tom Hamilton, Fitzwilliam LTC, Josep Costa RCTB 1899 and Berta Tintore, CTC Secretary.
Among other topics, the meeting reviewed the growth of the Association and looked at plans for a return to normal operations following the pandemic. The member clubs expressed their support for the organization of CTC events as soon as the health authorities lift travel restrictions. The Committee stressed the importance of the role of sport in returning society to its normal activities.
Founded in 1996 by eight European clubs, the CTC currently claims 78 member clubs from four continents. It is affiliated with the European Tennis Federation and the recognised by the sport’s governing body, the International Tennis Federation. The CTC’s main sponsor is Gutzwiller, a private bank that shares over 100 years of history.
