CTC Committee of Management meets in Barcelona


The Centenary Tennis Clubs Association’s (CTC) Committee of Management met today at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona 1899, on the first day of main draw action at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell 2019. Amongst the topics on the agenda was the possible acceptance of several new clubs to the organisation: Club Terrazas (Peru) and Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club, New Jersey (USA). The Committee positively evaluated the membership aspirations of each club, with a final decision due to be taken at the CTC Annual General Meeting later this year.

The Committee also reviewed the proposed Competitions Calendar for 2019. Amongst the tournaments due to take place are the prestigious CTC Winners’ Group, which will held at TC Genève in Switzerland from 7-9 September, where the winners of the four senior competition groups in 2018 will battle for the crown of overall champion. Defending champions I.CLTK Prague (CZE) will attempt to retain the title against competition from SALK (SWE), RC Polo (ESP) and the host club. The four senior competition groups will this year be held at TC Lyon (FRA), Le Tir (FRA), Malahide (IRL) and Athens (GRE).

The Competition Calendar also includes junior competitions for the Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 age categories, while South American and Asian senior events will be held in Guayquil (ECU) and at Ladies Recreation Club (HGK) respectively.

The President and Founder of the Association, Juan Maria Tintoré (RCTB 1899) hosted the meeting and was joined by CTC Vice President Petr Simunek (I.CLTK Prague), Lars Mhyrman (Kung. LTK), Eric Rogers (TC Geneve), Guido Schulz (Rot-Weiss Berlin), Donald Macloed (Cumberland LTC), Ota Ungerman (Royal Leopold), and CTC Counsellor Marco Girardelli. Also present at the meeting was Tennis Europe CEO Thomas Hammerl and the President of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona 1899, Jordi Cambra, who warmly welcomed the delegates to the club and its iconic ATP tournament.

Founded in 1996 by 8 European clubs, the CTC currently has 75 member clubs on fur continents. Affiliated to Tennis Europe and recognised by the sport’s governing body, the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the Association’s is joined in its centennial tradition by partner E. Gutzwiller & CIE private bank.
