Disruption caused by COVID-19 has inevitably caused havoc with this year’s tournament schedule, with all events envisaged for the summer having to be postponed.
We had hoped that it might be possible to organise a couple of events this autumn. Indeed, we are most grateful to Athens Lawn Tennis Club for offering to host the CTC Winners Group, and to the Real Club de Polo in Barcelona which was willing to host the CTC Seniors Group.
Both these events would have taken place in late September. However, with little time for planning, and too much uncertainty relating to the virus and travel practicalities, the CTC Competitions Committee has reluctantly decided that tournaments are simply not going to be feasible this year.
While disappointing, we are sure that everyone will appreciate the need to be prudent. Instead, we must wait for 2021. Let’s look forward to tournaments next year with relish, and hope that circumstances are such that 2021 can be a bumper year!
