From 1-2 October the Athens Lawn Tennis Club hosted the Winners group of the CTC Senior Competition. With the team of Le Tir pulling out of the tournament the matches were played amongst two home teams, TC Padova and the defending champion, I.ČLTK Prague.
The event was returned to the CTC calendar after a two-year break during the pandemic. All participants were excited to return to action in the beautiful facilities of the Athens club and enjoyed the terrific hospitality and great weather that graced the event throughout.
The whole weekend was a display of a superb level of tennis with a number of former professionals taking to the court to represent their teams. On Saturday I. ČLTK Prague beat the B-team of Athens LTC 8:1 and TC Padova defeated the A-team of Athens in a very close encounter.
On the final day, TC Padova beat I.CLTK Prague by the closest of margins 5:4, in which the mixed doubles performance of Padova clinched the victory. As such TC Padova becomes only the third club to become CTC Seniors Trophy champions in its twelve-year history after TC Parioli and I.CLTK Prague.
