Seniors 35+/45+ Winners Group
In the first semi-final, WAC defeated Cumberland 7:2 to secure a place in Sunday’s final.
The second semi-final between KLTK and Padova proved to be one of the closest encounters of the weekend. After a series of hard-fought matches, TC Padova eventually prevailed 5:4, earning its place in the final.
In the final, Padova showed its strength, particularly in the 35+ categories, and established a commanding lead.
One of the highlights came in the Ladies 45+ singles, where the second match developed into a very close contest in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd. It was eventually decided in a match tie-break in Padova’s favour, giving the Italian team the decisive fifth point and a 5:1 victory over WAC.
In the third-place play-off, KLTK finished the weekend with a victory over Cumberland, securing third place.
More Than a Competition
Throughout the weekend, spectators enjoyed exciting tennis at a high level, but the event was about much more than results.
The Saturday dinner, attended by around 40 players, was one of the social highlights of the weekend and perfectly reflected the friendship and the spirit of the Centenary Tennis Clubs.
The atmosphere throughout the competitions was exceptionally friendly, both on and off the court. Events such as these once again demonstrate the unique standing of the CTC. Tennis has the ability to bring people together across generations, clubs, cities and countries, creating friendships that reach beyond the court.
It was a wonderful weekend of tennis, friendship and international club spirit, and WAC was proud to welcome all participating teams to Vienna and is looking forward to next years events.
