Tennis Club Padova were delighted and proud to host a CTC senior competition +50/+60 from 5 to 7 September 2025. The competition featured teams from the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona, Carrickmines Croquet & Lawn Tennis Club, Tennis Club Venezia, and a team from the hosting club.
Upon the arrival of the teams’ captains on Friday, the draw established that Real Club de Polo de Barcelona were to play the Saturaday’s series against the home team, while a solid team from Tennis Club Venezia were to confront the very good Dubliners.
The good atmosphere of friendship that characterised the whole tournament started immediately after the draw, when all the players met at the welcome cocktail organised by the Tennis Club Padova at the poolside restaurant.
On Saturday, the clay courts of the Tennis Club Padova witnessed beautiful tennis matches, in wonderful weather conditions, and the series of the first day were won respectively by Polo and Carrickmines.
The traditional gala dinner organised on Saturday evening was a success, and the teams exchanged gifts, while tasting good food, and mixed rather naturally with a good representation of the members of the Tennis Club Padova.
On Sunday, the matches of the second series were played in the typical style of the Centenary Tennis Clubs Association: fair play, sportsmanship, consolidated friendship and, above all, a very good level of tennis.
At the end of the series, the President of the Tennis Club Padova (Alberto Bressan), the Tournament Director (Umberto Bressan) and the CTC board member (Matteo Carli) had the pleasure of congratulating the team from Barcelona on their final victory of the tournament (a tight 5-4 in the series with the Dubliners), handing over to the charismatic Captain of the Spaniards, Carlos Costa Bou (who had enchanted the crowd with his trademark backhand), two trophies of the tournament. The team from Tennis Club Venezia obtained the third place thanks to a 6-3 in the series against the home team.
Tennis Club Padova are looking forward to hosting another CTC tournament soon.
