2nd Annual International Grass Court Tournament

The West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills hosted a 2nd Annual International Grass Court Tournament 2011 from 1-2 September 2011.

The weather cooperated perfectly allowing the players and spectators to enjoy great tennis and good food in the presence of returning and new tennis friends. Whereas the women’s doubles was dominated by the winners Akemi and Stefani we were treated to a fabulously competitive match at a high playing level in the men’s doubles which was decided in a close tie break in the 3rd set in favor of Stejskal Sr/Jr.

The date for the next year’s tournament has been tentatively set for Friday, 31st August – Saturday, 1st September.

The host club would like to thank the CTC and EFG International bank for sponsoring and supporting this event. Special thanks also go to the Club’s tennis director, Bob Ingersole, general manager, Dina Bevilacqua and Akemi Kinoshita & Susan Causey for their contributions making this tournament a success.

Women’s Open Doubles

Winners: Akemi Kinoshita/Stefani Lineva (West Side Tennis Club, Forest Hills)

Finalists: Yuka Lin/Eva Raszkiewicz (West Side Tennis Club, Forest Hills)

Men’s Open Doubles

Winners: Stejskal Frantisek Sr./Stejskal Frantisek Jr. (I.CLTK Praha)

Finalists: Masao Inouye/Daniel Videtto (Tokyo Lawn & Tennis Club)
